Mummy: the inside story (ongoing) The unopened 3,000-year-old mummy of Nesperennub, priest of Karnak, reveals its secrets for the first time through data obtained using a CT scanner and transformed into a unique "virtual mummy." Learn more about the life and death of the Ancient Egyptians; look inside the mummy-case, under the wrappings, even travel inside the body, and wonder at Nesperennub's recreated face. Features an extraordinary, virtual reality film narrated by Sir Ian McKellen.

Tutankhamun and the Golden Age of the Pharaohs (through Aug. 31, 2008) This exhibit features more than 130 treasures from tombs, royal graves, and ancient sites in the Valley of the Kings, including 50 major objects from the tomb of Tutankhamun, which are on exhibit in the U.S. for the first time in 27 years. Among the artifacts from King Tutıs tomb are his gold crown and the canopic coffinette that contained his mummified internal organs.

Unlocking the Archives (ongoing) For the first time in its history, the Royal Geographic Society, the institution that sent explorers to the South Pole, up Mount Everest, and in search of the Nile, has opened its archives, one of the world's largest geographical archives, for public access, providing access to more than two million maps, photographs, books, artworks, artifacts, and documents. The collections tells the story of 500 years of geographical discovery and research and includes, for example, Charles Darwin's sextant, Edmund Hillary's oxygen canister, and Dr. Livingstone's hat.
