Tutankhamun and the Golden Age of the Pharaohs (Oct. 3, 2008-May 17, 2009) This exhibit features more than 130 treasures from tombs, royal graves, and ancient sites in the Valley of the Kings, including 50 major objects from the tomb of Tutankhamun, which are on exhibit in the U.S. for the first time in 27 years. Among the artifacts from King Tutıs tomb are his gold crown and the canopic coffinette that contained his mummified internal organs.

A Day in Pompeii (July 11, 2008-Jan. 4, 2009) Experience life and death in the cosmopolitan city of Pompeii, which was turned into a virtual time capsule by the debris and ash that suddenly and violently ended life in the city. 
Dinosaurs: Ancient Fossils, New Discoveries (through Aug. 17, 2008) This exhibit presents reinterpretations of the most persistent and puzzling mysteries about how dinosaurs looked, moved, and behaved and why they became extinct. The exhibit features fossil specimens and casts; interactive computer simulations and animations; videos of fieldwork; a large wall of mounted dinosaur skulls; and a walk-through diorama that is the worldıs most detailed re-creation of a prehistoric environment.

Dino Digs: Mysteries Unearthed (ongoing) This exhibit features a clutch of dinosaur eggs and other exhibit features a reconstructed paleontological excavation site and showcases eight complete and 12 partial dinosaurs, as well as other prehistoric land and sea animals and other fossils, in disparate land and aquatic settings.

Dinosaur Mummy CSI:  Cretaceous Science Investigation (Sep. 19, 2008-Sep. 7, 2009) Learn about the forensic approach used by scientists to study dinosaur fossils and mummified dinosaur remains, as well as the sites where they are found.  The exhibit features Leonardo,  a 77 million-year-old adult duckbilled dinosaur and the most perfectly fossilized plant-eating dinosaur ever discovered.  Found with almost all of his skin intact, Leonardo has provided extensive details about plant-eating dinosaurs and things that could only be theorized before.

Excavating Egypt: Great Discoveries from the Petrie Museum of Egyptian Archaeology at University College London (through Nov. 2, 2008 ) This exhibit presents the most important finds of Sir William Matthew Flinders Petrie and items from the Petrie Museum, one of the world's most important collections of Egyptian antiquities.  The exhibit uses photographs, excavation notes, and personal journals to bring the science of archaeology and the early days of Egyptology to life.

Down to the Monitor (ongoing) Commemorates the 30th anniversary of the finding of the wreck of the USS Monitor and incorporates text, photographs, drawings, a scale model of the vessel, and a recreation of its turret. Panels describe the design and construction of the USS Monitor as well as its battle history. A nine-minute video recounts the search efforts, showing actual dive footage of the wreck site.
Blackbeard the Pirate (ongoing) Learn about Blackbeard and the excavation of the wreck of his ship, the Queen Anne’s Revenge, in Beaufort Inlet.  See artifacts, such as, a brass bell,  a  cannon, a blunderbuss barrel, and a sounding weight, which give important clues about the 17th-century lives of Blackbeard’s crew - what they ate, what they drank, how they fought, etc.

The Lost Spacecraft: Liberty Bell 7 Recovered (ongoing) See the only un-recovered NASA spacecraft, which was used in 1961 for the U.S.'s second manned space mission.  Although it lay deeper below the ocean's surface than the Titanic and is only the size of a refrigerator, it was located and recovered in 1999 and is displayed alongside the history of the space program and the story of the recovery mission.
